Man whose house was hit by a rocket did not file a complaint against the students: 'Be careful next time'

A rocket launched by students during training exercises at the Model Airplane Runway in the Talas district of Kayseri fell onto the roof of an elderly couple's house on Ziyapaşa Street in the Akçakaya neighborhood.

Following the incident, numerous police teams were dispatched to the area after the homeowners reported the situation. Initial investigations by security forces determined that the rocket did not contain any explosives and was used solely for educational purposes. The fact that there was no loss of life or injury brought a sigh of relief.

“WE WERE WALKING OUTSIDE, NO ONE WAS HURT”

Homeowner Zeki Aktaş described the moment they experienced with these words:

“We were walking in the garden. There was a loud noise. The rocket had fallen on the roof. We didn't even know what it was. There is an airplane runway in an area near our neighborhood. They launched it from there. Since it malfunctioned, it fell on our roof. As I said, we were walking outside, no one was harmed.”

Although the rocket falling on the roof caused brief panic in the neighborhood, it turned out that the incident occurred during training and did not have serious consequences. Homeowner Zeki Aktaş did not file any complaints against the student who launched the rocket or the authorities involved.
