Gerçek Gündem editor Furkan Karabay, who was taken into custody yesterday and brought to the Istanbul Police Department, was accused of "targeting a person involved in the fight against terrorism" due to a news report he published.

Karabay was referred to the court with a request for his arrest. Following the referral, an arrest warrant was issued for Karabay.

In a statement issued by the organization, it was stated: "Gerçek Gündem reporter Furkan Karabay was arrested for reporting on a public court transcript. We will continue to do our job from where Karabay left off. You will not be able to cover up the truth. We are here! We will not get used to this! Because journalism is not a crime!"
