Allegations of luxury vehicle allocation from IMM to Diyanet on the agenda

CHP Deputy Chairman Deniz Yavuzyılmaz stated in a post on social media that the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, under AKP administration, had illegally provided a luxury vehicle to the Istanbul Mufti's Office.

Deniz Yavuzyılmaz supported his claim with documents.

Yavuzyılmaz included the following statements in his post:

"Another drain on the IMM from the Diyanet! We have determined that between 2018 and 2019, during the AK Party era of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, an illegal super-luxury vehicle was allocated to the Istanbul Mufti's Office using the municipality's budget resources.

The vehicle's make: Audi, model: A8 Long. Current price: 19,393,195 TL. This ostentation by the Mufti's Office is a violation of public trust while citizens are being crushed under the economic crisis!

Furthermore, the IMM has also been paying for the fuel expenses of this super-luxury vehicle from its own coffers.

However, according to the Vehicle Law No. 237, vehicles that institutions can acquire are required to be of a standard type, free from luxury and ostentation, and cheap and economical."

Yavuzyılmaz's statements have caused a widespread reaction in public opinion and sparked new debates regarding the IMM's budget expenditures.
