Ankara Metropolitan Municipality files criminal complaint regarding those accounts

The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) has taken official action following allegations made on social media regarding the institution and its bureaucrats. In a statement released by the municipality, it was announced that a criminal complaint had been filed to ensure the allegations are investigated by judicial authorities.

"IF THEY HAVE DOCUMENTS IN THEIR POSSESSION, WE DEMAND IT"

The statement expressed a clear stance regarding the allegations. It included the following remarks: "As the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, we are going one step further: If they truly have information, documents, or evidence as they claim, we personally demand that these be examined by judicial authorities."

The statement from the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality is as follows:

"In recent times, the systematic disinformation campaigns conducted on social media against our Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, our subsidiaries, and our bureaucrats have exceeded the dimension of mere fake news and have begun to directly target the functioning of the institution. Certain individuals have attempted blackmail through intermediaries, explicitly stating that they would continue these posts if their unlawful demands were not met. We have filed complaints regarding these individuals and accounts. These blackmail attempts, which aim to pressure a public institution and intimidate our employees, have now turned from mere disinformation into a direct criminal attempt. Our employees and their families are naturally affected by these irresponsible behaviors. Insulting a public official is a crime. Posts served to the public by these accounts with phrases such as 'documents will be revealed very soon' or 'we have strong evidence in our possession,' despite being based on no concrete information, create unease within the institution and cast suspicion on our bureaucrats and employees who are performing their duties. Despite our repeated warnings and previous criminal complaints, no results have been obtained regarding the individuals behind these lies. For this reason, as the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, we are going one step further: If they truly have information, documents, or evidence as they claim, we personally demand that these be examined by judicial authorities. Therefore, we have requested an investigation into the allegations, which are mentioned in the posts attached to our petition and which will be determined ex officio by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, regarding ANFA Ankara Altınpark Ltd. Şti. If a crime is detected, it has become a necessity to request that the necessary judicial proceedings be carried out against those involved; however, if it is revealed that the allegations do not reflect the truth, we request that the users who made these posts be identified and that a public lawsuit be filed against them. Unfortunately, these systematic attacks deeply shake the motivation of our employees within the municipality; some of our bureaucrats have become hesitant to sign documents. Decision-making processes are slowing down, and public services are being disrupted. This situation affects not only our institutions but also directly the services received by the people of Ankara. We are announcing this clearly to the public. Those who have information or documents regarding the Metropolitan Municipality should report them to the ANKARA CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE under investigation file number 2025/246444. Legal proceedings will be initiated against those who do not do this and who resort to such methods through social media posts about our employees, even if only by implication."
