Bad news for Melih Gökçek

In a statement issued by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB), it was announced that legal action will be initiated against former mayor Melih Gökçek on charges of "spreading information that does not reflect the truth to the public."

The statement noted that Gökçek had reshared old footage on social media with captions such as "Ankara is experiencing a disaster" and "Water pipes have burst again," thereby inciting panic among citizens.

MALFUNCTION IN THE KESİKKÖPRÜ LINE RESOLVED IN A SHORT TIME

The municipality announced that following a suction valve (a valve that evacuates air inside the pipe) explosion that occurred on the Kesikköprü Line on August 31, ASKİ teams intervened immediately and the malfunction was resolved in a short time.

The statement emphasized that there are no issues regarding water supply, stating, "As of October 8, there is no water shortage in any part of Ankara."

"THE PUBLIC WAS DELIBERATELY MISLED"

In the statement made by the municipality, it was expressed that Gökçek's posts constituted "disinformation" and that the public was deliberately misled.

The text included the following statements:

"Melih Gökçek has engaged in disinformation that incites panic among the people of Ankara and does not reflect the truth. These posts target both the peace of the public and the efforts of our ASKİ teams, who work with great dedication in the city."
