Bahçeli weighs in on the 'absolute nullity' debate in the CHP: 'It has become a problem for the nation'

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli made notable assessments regarding recent developments in the CHP during an interview with Türkgün newspaper columnist Yıldıray Çiçek.

Stating that the debates over 'absolute nullity' in the CHP cannot be seen merely as an internal management issue, Bahçeli said that what is happening directly affects Turkey's political atmosphere.

"THE CRISIS IN THE CHP IS A PROBLEM FOR THE NATION"

Expressing that the scope of the process within the CHP has expanded, Bahçeli stated that the internal party debates are no longer just a matter for the CHP.

In his assessment of the issue, Bahçeli used the phrase, "The crisis in the CHP is a problem for the nation," indicating that the developments have taken on a dimension that affects the country's agenda.

In his interview, Bahçeli also evaluated the attitudes of former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and current Chairman Özgür Özel, criticizing both figures for how they are managing the process.

Bahçeli stated, "Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu and Mr. Özel are failing to present an image consistent with the CHP's historical responsibility through their rhetoric and actions. The course of the process is being shaped by concrete steps toward fragmentation."

Drawing attention to the ongoing legal process within the CHP, Bahçeli criticized the stance adopted by Özgür Özel.

Bahçeli assessed, "Mr. Özel's deepening of the crisis the CHP is in without waiting for the Court of Cassation's ruling not only undermines the legal process but also erodes founding values."

Emphasizing that Turkey is a state of law, Bahçeli underscored that decisions rendered by courts are binding.

"Every citizen of the Republic of Turkey has an obligation to comply with the decisions made by the court," Bahçeli said.

"THE CHAIRMAN OF THE CHP IS KILIÇDAROĞLU"

Touching upon the debates regarding the CHP chairmanship, Bahçeli argued that the current legal situation must be taken as the basis until a new decision is reached.

Concluding his remarks, Bahçeli stated, "It should not be forgotten that Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu is the Chairman of the CHP until a new or different decision is made."
