BirGün responds to Gürsel Tekin's 'conspiracy' accusation with archive: 'Our condolences!'
A controversy has erupted between BirGün newspaper and former CHP MP Gürsel Tekin following a report alleging that extras were brought in from outside to make attendance appear higher at a ceremony organized by the CHP. After Tekin accused the newspaper and reporter Ebru Çelik of orchestrating a "FETÖ-style conspiracy," BirGün Web Coordinator Berkant Gültekin responded by recalling a newspaper advertisement from 2013.
A very harsh response has come to former CHP MP Gürsel Tekin, who accused BirGün newspaper, which revealed that extras were brought in from outside for a CHP ceremony, and the reporter who signed the story, Ebru Çelik, of orchestrating a "FETÖ-style conspiracy." BirGün Newspaper Web Coordinator Berkant Gültekin reacted by reminding Tekin of past archives.
TENSION STARTING WITH THE "EXTRAS" REPORT
In recent days, allegations that extras were brought in to make attendance appear higher at a ceremony organized by the CHP were documented, and this situation caused widespread repercussions in public opinion. Following the publication of the report, Gürsel Tekin targeted BirGün newspaper and reporter Ebru Çelik, criticizing the process with the words "FETÖ-style conspiracy."
This serious accusation by Tekin caused the newspaper's management to issue a harsh counter-statement.
GÜLTEKİN'S 'GET WELL SOON' REMINDER FROM 2013
Responding to Gürsel Tekin's statements via social media, BirGün Web Coordinator Berkant Gültekin brought up a thank-you advertisement placed in newspapers by Fethullah Gülen, the leader of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), in 2013. Reminding that Gürsel Tekin's name was also on the list of those to whom Gülen expressed his gratitude after receiving "get well soon" wishes following a health issue he experienced, Gültekin used the following expressions:
"Gürsel Tekin's attempt to attack BirGün through FETÖ is interesting, in addition to being comical. Because one of the names thanked in the advertisement that the leader of this structure, Fethullah Gülen, placed in Zaman newspaper in October 2013 after a health issue he experienced was Gürsel Tekin, the CHP Deputy Chairman at the time. As is known, Tekin's party leader at that time was also Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. Now Tekin has come and is making a 'FETÖ-style trap' reference to us. In that case, let us send him a belated 'Our condolences' message!"
