Çanakkale Mayor Muharrem Erkek switches to YENİ Party while in office

Çanakkale Mayor Muharrem Erkek has joined the ranks of the YENİ Party following his resignation from the Republican People's Party (CHP). Erkek shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter) of himself signing his membership documents for the YENİ Party. In his post, Mayor Erkek used the phrase, "May our path be clear..." and tagged the name of Chairman Özgür Özel in his post.

Erkek's decision to leave the CHP came after Özgür Özel announced that they would be forming a new party.
