Çanakkale Mayor Muharrem Erkek switches to YENİ Party while in office
Muharrem Erkek, serving as the Mayor of Çanakkale, has officially left his party and joined the YENİ Party. Erkek announced the process via his social media account.
Çanakkale Mayor Muharrem Erkek has joined the ranks of the YENİ Party following his resignation from the Republican People's Party (CHP). Erkek shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter) of himself signing his membership documents for the YENİ Party. In his post, Mayor Erkek used the phrase, "May our path be clear..." and tagged the name of Chairman Özgür Özel in his post.
POLITICAL TRANSFER PROCESS
Erkek's decision to leave the CHP came after Özgür Özel announced that they would be forming a new party.
Following this announcement, Muharrem Erkek stood out as one of the first mayors to announce his move to the YENİ Party. This transfer, which had been discussed in political circles for a long time, has caused a wide stir in both the Çanakkale and national political agendas.
Muharrem Erkek, who will continue his political work at his new address, is expected to take steps under the YENİ Party umbrella in the coming days.
