Claim: Instruction from Erdoğan regarding Mustafa Sarıgül

A new claim has emerged regarding the investigation and immunity process concerning Mustafa Sarıgül, who resigned from the YENİ Party and continues to serve as an independent member of parliament.

According to a report by Yeniçağ, AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has given instructions for Sarıgül's immunity file to be sent to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey as soon as possible and for the procedures to be accelerated. The claim began to be discussed in the capital's political circles following the entry of Sarıgül's resignation petition into the TBMM records.

If the file reaches Parliament, the process will first be handled by the Joint Committee. Following the committee stage, the summary of proceedings (fezleke) is expected to be brought to the General Assembly agenda, and the decision-making process regarding whether or not to lift immunity is expected to be initiated.

HOW DID THE INVESTIGATION BEGIN?

The investigation had come to the agenda with allegations that large amounts of money of unknown origin were laundered through companies established domestically and abroad. In this context, Mustafa Sarıgül's ex-wife Aylin Kotil, his sons Ömer and Emir Sarıgül, and journalist Murat Ağırel, who was investigating the matter, had been arrested.

Uğur Kurtulan, the owner of the National Criminal Bureau, who prepared the report stating that the footage concerning Mustafa Sarıgül and the tape of Deniz Baykal were "montages," and Ömer D., who was stated to be Sarıgül's bodyguard, were also taken into custody.

Sarıgül had called former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar regarding the allegations against him and denied them. Şamil Tayyar had suggested that Mustafa Sarıgül provide testimony by ensuring his immunity was lifted, and Sarıgül had said he would consider this suggestion.

The investigation began upon the complaint of two German citizens alleging that approximately 100 million euros were laundered through companies and that irregularities were committed with the promise of a 1 billion euro fund. The documents concerning Mustafa Sarıgül were separated due to his immunity and sent to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
