Clear message from Özel to party members: 'Keep your distance from the debates'

YENİ Party deputies met for the first time at a closed group meeting held today in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). 91 deputies attended the meeting, which lasted approximately half an hour and was chaired by Özgür Özel. Reminding everyone that the party has entered a new era, Özel called on all deputies to be careful in their political stance.

At the top of the list of points Özel wanted to draw the deputies' attention to was staying away from internal debates regarding the separation from the CHP. Highlighting the citizens' agenda as the primary issue, Özel underscored that they must avoid both political polemics and, in particular, speeches directed at the CHP.

"Keep yourselves away from sterile debates, individual polemics, and especially the internal debates of the CHP. Even avoid making jokes about these topics. The issue is the citizen's issue," said Özel, who asked the deputies to define their attitudes, stating that a policy focused on the expectations of the citizens will be followed in the coming period.

Making a statement to the press after the meeting, Özel stated that the YENİ Party's group structure has now been completed with all its administrators and that they have officially started their duties, adding, "We held our first closed group meeting. Our duty group deputy chairman will make the necessary statements in accordance with the procedure. From this moment on, there is no decision left to be made or election to be held in the establishment process of the YENİ Party Group. From this time forward, the YENİ Party has completed its establishment, and the YENİ Party has begun its duties with all its administrators, group management, group deputy chairmen, parliamentary administrative chief, clerk member, and as you followed last week, its Party Assembly (PM), High Disciplinary Board (YDK), and executive board.
