Erdoğan emphasizes 'Blue Homeland': 'We will not shy away from any sacrifice'

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made significant remarks at the Diploma Awarding and Flag Handover Ceremony held at the National Defense University Naval Academy. Addressing the graduates, Erdoğan stated that Turkey is determined to defend its rights in the Blue Homeland.

'WE WILL NOT SHY AWAY FROM SACRIFICE REGARDING THE BLUE HOMELAND'

Erdoğan said, "If necessary, for this cause, just like our heroic ancestors, you will fearlessly walk toward martyrdom, leaving behind your mother, your beloved, and your very self, as the poet expressed." Bringing the concept of the Blue Homeland back to the agenda, Erdoğan stated, "You will not shy away from any sacrifice to elevate Turkey and to protect our rights and laws in the Blue Homeland."

Targeting those who criticize the Blue Homeland concept without naming them, Erdoğan said, "Everyone's sea is as wide as their horizon. Some may see the 'Blue Homeland' as a 'fairy tale,' and some may accuse Turkey of seeking adventure. Just as in the past, there may be those today and tomorrow who are uncomfortable with Turkey's struggle. We will not pay heed to any of them."

WE ARE IMPLEMENTING NEW SUBMARINE PROJECTS

Touching upon Turkey's submarine projects, Erdoğan said, "We are implementing our new type of submarine project step by step. Our contacts regarding our aircraft carrier continue. We plan to commission our Hızır Reis submarine in 2025 and our Murat Reis submarine in 2026. We will complete the remaining 3 submarines by 2029."

Giving messages regarding foreign policy, Erdoğan emphasized that Turkey will maintain balance in its foreign policy. Stating, "Asking what Turkey is doing in Iraq or Syria is a great injustice to our history," Erdoğan said, "Turkey cannot reach its intended destination by only turning its face to the West. We are not obliged to choose between the European Union and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. While strengthening our relations with the East, we will seek ways to advance our deep-rooted cooperation with the West."
