CHP sets a date for early elections... Erdoğan himself will request it
CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba made significant statements ranging from early election debates to the strategies of the People's Alliance and Bahçeli's remarks on Öcalan. He stated, "Erdoğan will request the election himself due to the poor course of the economy."
CHP Malatya MP Veli Ağbaba answered questions from Hande Fırat. Stating that President Erdoğan might decide on early elections due to the negative economic outlook, Ağbaba said, "According to us, the election will be in 2026. Erdoğan will request the election himself due to the course of the economy."
'WE ARE AGAINST ELECTION INITIATIVES FOR 2027'
Evaluating early election scenarios, Ağbaba expressed that they are against the People's Alliance's plan to make a new election arrangement for 2027. He said, "We will not be part of an initiative where the People's Alliance calls for an early election, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey dissolves itself, and an election is held in 2027."
'CHP PRIORITIZES BORDER SECURITY'
Explaining Turkey's stance on border security, Ağbaba emphasized that the CHP maintains a clear position against terrorist organizations in the region:
"The CHP wants negotiations with the regime, the normalization of the region, and the acceleration of the return of refugees."
"We do not want terrorist organizations, whatever their name may be, to be effective on Turkey's borders."
'WE DID NOT UNDERSTAND BAHÇELİ'S ÖCALAN REMARK'
Evaluating MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's remarks regarding Öcalan, Ağbaba stated that they did not understand the background of this rhetoric:
"The MHP leader was saying 'DEM should be closed' a week ago, now he says 'Öcalan should speak in the TBMM'. What is the purpose of this move, to extend the life of the government?"
"The place for the resolution of the Kurdish issue is clear, but Öcalan has no business in the TBMM."
"CHP Will Not Take Steps That Families of Martyrs Would Oppose"
Stating that such debates create major question marks in the public eye, Ağbaba said, "The CHP will not take part in any step that families of martyrs and veterans would oppose. The public needs to be clearly informed on this matter."
