İYİ Party spokesperson Zorlu criticizes DEM Party and CHP
In a press conference held at the party headquarters, İYİ Party Spokesperson Zorlu wished for God's mercy upon the 12 soldiers who were martyred in the Claw-Lock Operation region and extended his condolences to their families and loved ones. In his statement, Zorlu made remarks regarding the DEM Party and the CHP.
Zorlu stated, "In no modern democracy can a political party in parliament praise or encourage an organization that the country has listed as a terrorist organization and is still actively fighting against, nor can it demand freedom for the leader of that organization.
Deputies who pose hand-in-hand and side-by-side with terrorists in the mountains where the PKK is stationed cannot be representatives of the Turkish nation in the Grand National Assembly."
In a press conference held at the party headquarters, Zorlu wished for God's mercy upon the 12 soldiers who were martyred in the Claw-Lock Operation region and extended his condolences to their families and loved ones.
Stating that upon receiving the news of the martyrs, they had called for a national day of mourning as a party and initiated efforts to issue a joint declaration, Zorlu recalled that all other parties with groups in parliament, except for two, had published a joint condemnation text.

"UNFORTUNATELY, SOME OF OUR POLITICAL PARTIES..."
Zorlu said, "While we should be united as a nation on such a supra-political issue, unfortunately, some of our political parties preferred to evaluate the matter within the political arena. On the other hand, despite our call, we have been turned into a country where discussions continue over whether or not a national day of mourning should be declared, as if losing 12 martyrs in 24 hours is not a national issue or a national tragedy."
Emphasizing that his party stands with and supports the operations in northern Iraq, Zorlu said their greatest wish is for the nests of terrorism to be eradicated immediately.
Stressing that the fact that executives of a party with a group in parliament have been increasingly bold in praising terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan and calling for his freedom should not be overlooked, Zorlu stated that they, as a party, vehemently reject these grave statements.

"WE ARE WITH THEM"
When asked by a journalist about the İYİ Party's stance regarding the remarks of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who did not sign the joint declaration, Kürşad Zorlu noted the following:
"We view issues concerning our national security, especially the terrorism issue, as being above party politics. Because we see it as an indispensable area for the Turkish nation, we approach these issues with this sensitivity and formulate our policies accordingly. This latest incident is also a stance we have maintained for a long time. The CHP signed another declaration some time ago; there was a common ground there as well, and it was the right thing to do.
However, if you look at the step we have taken, we are of course with our Mehmetçik (soldiers) and our armed forces in their struggle. It is a very important point to be able to show that we are united as a nation on such a day against terrorist organizations, and to be able to stand against that propaganda system in the fight against terrorism.

This point can never be compromised. We have shown this stance, but after showing it, we do not refrain from sharing our findings and suggestions to make these operations stronger and more effective. I see the criticism directed at the İYİ Party on this matter as unfair."
Upon the question, "Have the İYİ Party's candidates for Istanbul and Ankara been finalized?", Zorlu said that Chairwoman Meral Akşener would be working on the subject this week and that they continue to exchange views with deputies and other stakeholders in Istanbul and Ankara.
