Knife-edge results in presidential poll: The gap between Yavaş and Erdoğan revealed

In a presidential election poll conducted by Özdemir Research in September, a striking result emerged regarding a potential race between Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

In the study, participants were asked the question: "If a presidential election were to be held this weekend and the candidates were Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Mansur Yavaş, which candidate would you vote for?"

According to the poll, which was conducted between September 24-28 with 2,006 people across 31 provinces and 26 regions, the percentage of those who said they would vote for Mansur Yavaş was measured at 50.2 percent. The percentage of those who stated they would prefer Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was 49.8 percent.

According to these results, the gap between the two names remained at the 0.4 percentage point level. The poll indicated that in a potential second-round scenario, the race could be extremely close.

Erdoğan received 49.52 percent of the vote in the first round of the 2023 presidential election; in the second round, he increased his vote share to 52.18 percent and was re-elected president.
