Kürşad Zorlu addresses allegations regarding Meral Akşener's son, Fatih Akşener

Kürşad Zorlu addresses allegations regarding Meral Akşener's son, Fatih Akşener

At a press conference held at the party headquarters, Zorlu stated that the İYİ Party's candidate selection processes for the local elections are ongoing.

Regarding Sakarya Deputy Dikbayır, Kürşad Zorlu said, "I will not make a very in-depth assessment within the framework of Mr. Dikbayır's allegations.

The process regarding this matter is continuing in our Disciplinary Board. Since it is a matter that is proceeding in its own channel and has confidentiality, it would not be appropriate for me to provide information regarding the content of the process and the disciplinary investigation."

Noting that they have determined their candidates in 59 settlements, including 4 provinces, 40 districts, and towns, in addition to Eskişehir, İzmir, and Kahramanmaraş, Zorlu announced that 12 more candidates would be determined and shared with the public this week.

Reminding that the issue of foreigners acquiring property in the TRNC was brought to the agenda in the TBMM Planning and Budget Committee, Zorlu spoke as follows:

"Although the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the acquisition of property by foreigners in the TRNC is being monitored, we are following the issue of foreigners acquiring property in the TRNC with concern.

Especially the allegations that Israelis are acquiring property by circumventing the provisions of TRNC laws that regulate the registration of real estate sales to foreigners in the title deed are extremely dangerous for the future.

Indeed, according to the data published in the Official Gazette in the TRNC, we see that approximately 7 thousand foreigners have acquired real estate between January 2021 and August 2023. These data have reached a level that could create a security vulnerability in the TRNC, which is an island country in terms of both surface area and population."

"As of now, there is no appointment request from Özel to our Chairperson"

Upon the question, "Has there been any development following the allegations of İYİ Party Chairperson Meral Akşener that 'some police chiefs run hotels and orphaned girls are used in prostitution'?", Zorlu said, "Since the subject is in a very sensitive process, we have shared certain aspects with the public.

It is being examined by the Ministry of Interior. No statement has come from there either. Let us follow this important issue. We wish to maintain our silence in order for this process to be resolved properly."

When asked whether a reversal is possible regarding the İYİ Party's decision to field its own candidates in the local elections, specifically in Ankara and Istanbul, Zorlu gave the following response:

"There was an evaluation in our Board regarding Mr. Mansur Yavaş's visit and its content. During Mr. Yavaş's visit, they brought greetings from Mr. Özgür Özel. Other than that, there was no evaluation. Our General Administrative Board has a decision; political parties are managed through authorized bodies and the implementation of the decisions they take. We are working to implement our decision in the most effective way based on this principle. As of now, there is no appointment request from Mr. Özel to our Chairperson."

"We are talking about a Turkish son who has raised himself very well"

Upon being asked "whether there are any attempts to take the allegations, including monetary issues and harassment, to the judiciary institutionally," Zorlu said, "I will not make a very in-depth assessment within the framework of Mr. Dikbayır's allegations.

The reason is that he is a person who founded our party. The process regarding this matter is continuing in our Disciplinary Board. The notification has been made; it may reach him today or tomorrow. Afterwards, there is a defense period. Since it is a matter that is proceeding in its own channel and has confidentiality, it would not be appropriate for me to provide information regarding the content of the process and the disciplinary investigation."

Addressing the allegations regarding Meral Akşener's son, Fatih Akşener, Zorlu said the following:

"A subject regarding Mr. Fatih Akşener was mentioned. We are talking about a 39-year-old Turkish son who has raised himself very well. We are choosing to answer because it is related to our Chairperson's family. Mr. Fatih is very important to us.

He is a person whom every one of our deputies, every one of our Board members, and our General Administrative Board members meets and exchanges views with. First and foremost, he is a trust of ours.

Regarding that allegation, let me say this; I am not in a position to question Mr. Fatih's competence, and I would not do such a thing, honestly. But for my own part, I am of the opinion that the evaluations and vision he has put forward are also very important for us.

An expression of 'distributing money' was used here. It is a contribution given to the lead team leaders of the campaign regarding the volunteerism basis of our two deputies, whose names I can disclose when necessary during that process. There is nothing that cannot be accounted for in this regard. Everything is out in the open."
