Ali Boltaç, the Mayor of the Tarsus district of Mersin, joined the YENİ Party following his resignation from the CHP. Boltaç was pinned with his party badge at a ceremony held at the party's headquarters in Ankara.
In a statement on his social media account, Boltaç noted that his political choice is linked to an understanding of upholding democracy and the will of the people.
"What is essential for me in politics is to be consistent with the values I believe in and to defend democracy and the will of the people under all circumstances. As of today, I have decided to continue the political understanding and common struggle I share with Özgür Özel under the roof of the YENİ Party. This decision is not a new political stance for me, but a continuation of the path I have walked in line with the principles I believe in."

Emphasizing that the change in party will not lead to any difference in municipal services, Boltaç stated that his responsibility toward the people of Tarsus continues.
"I will continue my duty as mayor, which I undertook with the will of the people of Tarsus, without making any distinctions, just as I have done until today. The promises I made to Tarsus and my responsibility toward this city have not changed."
