MSB sources: 'It is pure speculation that the downed UAV took off from Incirlik'
The Ministry of National Defense stated that claims that the Turkish UAV downed by the US took off from Incirlik Air Base are baseless.
MSB sources stated, ''(Regarding the downing of the Turkish UAV) It is pure speculation that the aircraft took off from Incirlik; no such situation is the case.'' Sources also responded to a question regarding where the aircraft took off from by saying, "The aircraft took off from Jordan."
WHAT HAPPENED?
On October 5, the US announced that it had downed a Turkish UAV in Syria on the grounds that it perceived it as a 'threat,' while officials from Turkey's Ministry of National Defense had initially argued that the downed UAV did not belong to Turkey.
Later, in a statement made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, it was confirmed that the UAV downed by a US fighter jet belonged to Turkey.
Following the incident, Retired Admiral Türker Ertürk had claimed that the US F-16 that downed Turkey's UAV had taken off from the Incirlik Air Base located in Adana.
