Parliament to convene in extraordinary session to discuss developments in Gaza

The CHP has called for an extraordinary session of Parliament due to Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip. The AKP, which had not supported similar calls in the past, has decided to participate this time. Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Numan Kurtulmuş has invited Parliament to an extraordinary session on Friday, August 29, and announced that Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will provide information on the latest developments.

The AKP responded to the CHP's call by inviting Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to Parliament.

Party leadership stated that the sensitivity regarding the Palestine-Gaza issue is shared by all groups. In addition to the CHP, other parties are also expected to attend the session in full force.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, in a statement following the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, noted that the situation in Gaza has become unbearable and that they are organizing the extraordinary session for this reason. Fidan drew attention to the importance of holding the meeting before the United Nations Security Council General Assembly meetings to be held in September.

Foreign Minister Fidan has intensified his diplomatic traffic following Israel's recent attacks on Gaza. Fidan is expected to provide information at the Parliamentary General Assembly regarding international meetings on Gaza, his discussions with his counterparts, and the steps to be taken for Palestine.
