Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly Tekin Bingöl will meet with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş today regarding the immunity dossiers sent to the Assembly.
Stating that they held a meeting with the deputy speakers of the Assembly regarding the immunity files, Bingöl used the expression, "We assessed that the issue of dossiers has gotten out of hand," in his evaluation of the process.
Most recently, the immunity dossiers prepared by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding Özgür Özel and Veli Ağbaba were sent to the Assembly. It was reported that the dossiers were prepared with the request that their immunity be lifted.
In the statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the file was prepared within the scope of the investigation conducted into the accusation of "receiving bribes in a chain." The statement included allegations regarding the candidacy of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek during the March 31, 2024, Local Administration General Elections process.
According to the statement, it was alleged that Özel abused his influence and authority; and that he obtained benefits from Muhittin Böcek and his son Mustafa Gökhan Böcek on different dates, either directly or through Ağbaba.
