Permission denied for Ekrem İmamoğlu to attend funeral
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu requested permission to attend the funeral of his aunt, who passed away while he was in prison, but his request was denied.
Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently being held in prison, received the news of his aunt Hacı Asiye İnan’s passing yesterday. The funeral ceremony for Asiye İnan, who died at the age of 86, will be held today in Beylikdüzü, Istanbul.
İmamoğlu applied to the Ministry of Justice to attend the funeral. The application stated that İmamoğlu wished to be with his family for their final farewell. However, according to information received, the request to attend the funeral was rejected following an evaluation by the Ministry of Justice.
It has been confirmed that İmamoğlu will not be able to attend the funeral prayer to be held in Beylikdüzü. It was reported that the family is grieving the loss of their loved one.
