While debates continue regarding the education process of former AKP Deputy Chair Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, a social media comment made in the past by the then-rector of Istanbul University, Prof. Dr. Yunus Söylet, has resurfaced.
It was noted that Kaya graduated from the Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, which she began in 2009, on May 25, 2015, and shared photos from the graduation ceremony on her social media account on that date. In her post, Kaya had used the expressions, "I am at the Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine Graduation Ceremony. I am graduating from my 2nd university. But it is the first graduation I have been able to attend..."
Under the post in question, it was seen that the then-rector Yunus Söylet had commented "congratulations" and Kaya had replied "thank you, professor :)".
According to the report in NEFES, following the resurfacing of the post, questions were directed to Söylet regarding whether Kaya had attended classes during her medical education.
Stating that he had only encountered Kaya once, Söylet said, "I met and greeted Fatma Betül for the first and last time in my life this year at the groundbreaking ceremony in Cerrahpaşa, which our President attended. That is all I can say about her."
Questions regarding the education process of Kaya, who left her post as AKP Deputy Chair following debates over the fund investigation and later resigned from her party, continue to be discussed in the public eye.
