Statement from Ömer Çelik regarding the call to lay down arms

AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik evaluated the February 28 process and the discussions on the PKK laying down its arms in a statement made at his party's Istanbul Provincial Headquarters.

''THE STRUGGLE WAS FOUGHT AGAINST THE DARKNESS OF FEBRUARY 28''

Stating that memories were refreshed on the anniversary of the February 28 process, Çelik drew attention to the struggle for democracy led by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during that period, saying, "We express our gratitude to our President, who tore through the darkness of February 28 and led the way for democracy."

''OUR PRESIDENT FOUGHT FOR THE REMOVAL OF BANS'' 

Touching upon the claims regarding the PKK laying down its arms and dissolving, which have been on the agenda in recent days, Çelik emphasized that President Erdoğan has made symbolic speeches and taken steps against the tutelage regime. Çelik stated, "Our President fought a great struggle for the removal of the bans on our Kurdish citizens."

Çelik noted that President Erdoğan has always stood against the tutelage system and has taken decisive steps for the democratization of Turkey, delivering the message that "the struggle for democracy will continue uninterrupted."
