İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener made statements at today's group meeting.

The lines Akşener quoted from a poem by Nihal Atsız, "When a great war breaks out, the brave go quickly, the coward slowly, for the heartless there is money and food, for the brave the battlefield appears," were associated with Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş.

A statement regarding these words came from İYİ Party Spokesperson Kürşad Zorlu. Zorlu said, "In the speech delivered by our Chair, Ms. Meral Akşener, at our TBMM Group Meeting today, some excerpts were taken from a poem belonging to the late Hüseyin Nihal Atsız, as has been done on different occasions before.

However, it has been observed that the expressions in question are being taken out of their purpose and context by certain circles and are being linked to the esteemed Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, Mr. Mansur Yavaş.

We would like to emphasize that these claims are completely untrue and that such political manipulation will never achieve its goal. Respectfully," he said.
