YENİ Party Şahinbey Municipal Council Member Ali Yıldırım has been arrested as part of an investigation into charges of "insulting the president."

Following Yıldırım's arrest, YENİ Party Gaziantep Provincial Chair Erhan Deniz Güngen issued a statement via his social media account. Güngen stated that their party would closely monitor the legal process.

In his statement, Güngen emphasized the principle of the rule of law and noted that the protection of the presumption of innocence is a fundamental right. Güngen expressed that everyone must be equal before the law and that the right to a fair trial must be guaranteed.

"No one can be treated as guilty without a finalized court verdict."

Noting that they will follow the process as the YENİ Party Gaziantep Provincial Presidency, Güngen announced that they will maintain their stance on the rule of law, fundamental rights and freedoms, democracy, and justice.
