YENİ Party to set up ballot boxes in 81 provinces: Date announced

The YENİ Party is heading to a primary election for the party leadership ahead of its First Ordinary Congress, themed "founding," which will be held at the Ankara Arena on November 14-15. The party leadership plans to set up ballot boxes in 81 provinces on Sunday, November 8, for members to cast their votes for the party chair.

The party's Central Executive Board (MYK) met at the headquarters under the chairmanship of Party Leader Özgür Özel. During the meeting, in addition to preparations for the primary and the congress, the fund crisis, budget negotiations in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), developments in foreign policy, and the Sarıgül investigation were also discussed.

YENİ Party officials stated that the primary election method previously used for district and provincial presidencies would be applied this time for the party leadership. It is aimed to set up approximately 3,000 ballot boxes across Turkey for the primary, in which citizens who became party members by Thursday, November 5, will be eligible to vote.

YENİ Party officials stated, "We plan to set up twice as many ballot boxes in all districts as were used in the provincial presidency primaries; we will set up 3,000 ballot boxes. It will be a major primary election."

EMPHASIS ON TRANSPARENCY AT THE CONGRESS

It was reported that the main theme of the First Ordinary Congress to be held on November 14-15 will be "founding." Party officials conveyed that the hall arrangements are being prepared, special songs have been composed for the congress, and these songs will be played for the first time at the event.

It was also stated that the party will provide information to the public at the congress regarding expenditures made to date using donations. As part of the preparations, it was noted that newspaper advertisements have been placed and billboard advertisements will begin on November 7.

The Founders' Board is expected to meet on Monday, November 9, followed by a Party Assembly meeting. It was learned that proposed bylaw changes and final preparations for the congress will be evaluated during these meetings.

One of the topics on the MYK agenda was the fund crisis. Party officials argued that there is a process regarding payments to victims that is not proceeding transparently and stated that they would keep the issue on the parliamentary agenda. The officials claimed that, according to impressions from the field, there is also a reaction among AK Party voters.

Addressing the allegations made against Özel regarding the "money laundering" investigation into the Sarıgül family, party officials argued that the allegations were brought forward to overshadow the fund crisis agenda. The officials stated that the allegations in question are "baseless."
