Published in the Official Gazette: Civil servants' salary increase and compensation system changed

With the new decision approved by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and published in the Official Gazette dated July 11, 2026, new principles regarding salary increases and compensation practices for public employees have come into effect.

The regulation in question includes changes specifically targeting administrators working at the Ministry of National Education and teachers with long-term service.

COMPENSATION REGULATION FOR MoNE ADMINISTRATORS

Changes were made to the "Salary Increases and Compensations to be Paid to Civil Servants" decision, which was previously in effect as an annex to the Council of Ministers Decision No. 2006/10344.

With the Presidential Decree, deputy provincial directors of national education, district directors of national education, branch managers, and those appointed as administrators within the scope of the Teaching Profession Law working under the Ministry of National Education will now be evaluated under the same conditions as public officials with teacher status in terms of special service compensation.

NEW PRINCIPLES BASED ON TEACHERS' LENGTH OF SERVICE

In addition, new articles regarding how those serving in teaching staff or positions will benefit from compensation based on their total length of service have been included in the regulation.

Accordingly, teachers who have served for at least 50 years in total and teachers with at least 25 years of service will be entitled to receive special service compensation within the framework of the relevant new principles.

DECISION HAS COME INTO EFFECT

While it was stated in the second article of the published decision that the changes came into effect immediately, it was announced in the third article that the implementation of the provisions within the scope of the decision would be carried out by the President.

All these innovations were implemented in accordance with Article 152 of the Civil Servants Law No. 657.
