Apple cancels project it has been working on for 10 years

According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple is canceling its secret and long-running project aimed at producing an autonomous electric car.

According to information obtained by TechCrunch, the company has already begun laying off some of the people working on the project.

It is being discussed that most of the approximately 2,000 employees still working on the project will be shifted to Apple's generative artificial intelligence projects.

The decision to terminate the project comes at a time when major automakers are re-evaluating their investments in electric vehicles and scrutiny of autonomous vehicle projects is increasing.

"THERE WAS PRESSURE ON EXECUTIVES"

Apple first began working on the car project, known internally as "Project Titan," in 2014.

However, over the last decade, the project fluctuated between an emphasis on making a fully electric Tesla competitor and an emphasis on making a more conventional vehicle with full autonomy.

Most recently, Bloomberg reported in January that project leadership was under pressure from Apple's top executives and board of directors to find a way to bring something to market as soon as possible.
