Apple products quietly retired in 2023

Every year, Apple continues to launch new models of iPhones, iPads, Macs, and many other products. At the same time, some Apple products are quietly discontinued each year.

So, which products did Apple say goodbye to this year?

Here is a list prepared by Chip of all the Apple products that were discontinued in 2023 and that you can no longer buy, or will not be able to buy very soon.

Mini iPhone

After Apple introduced the iPhone 15 series, the company immediately stopped selling the iPhone 13 mini. This means that Apple's two iPhone models with a 5.4-inch screen are no longer available. Although some consumers said they were waiting for a new mini model, small iPhones did not sell well enough for Apple to continue producing them.

MagSafe Battery Pack

Now that there is no iPhone mini, there is no need for the MagSafe Battery Pack. This discontinued Apple product had a sleek and compact design. However, unfortunately, its implementation was not very successful. The MagSafe Battery Pack charged iPhones very little and barely filled the battery. Despite being more expensive than third-party solutions, it was never efficient enough to charge any iPhone model to 100 percent.

Touch Bar

Many people thought the MacBook Pro with the Touch Bar was the best in terms of design. However, unfortunately, Apple's other choices made this design impractical. With the announcement of the M3 Macs, the company decided to end this feature. Those planning to buy an M3 MacBook can now choose between 14-inch and 16-inch options.

MagSafe Duo

Apple discontinued the MagSafe Duo Charger in September after introducing the iPhone 15 series.

Launched in 2020, the MagSafe Duo was a $129 foldable charging pad that featured both a MagSafe charger for iPhones and a magnetic charging puck for the Apple Watch.

Leather Accessories

As part of the company's environmental sensitivity efforts, Apple stopped selling leather accessories in September, including leather versions of iPhone cases, the MagSafe Wallet, Apple Watch bands, and more. Apple introduced a new FineWoven fabric material, which it says has a lower carbon footprint than leather for accessories.

Lightning AirPods Pro 2

Finally, Apple discontinued the 2022 AirPods Pro 2 with a Lightning port. At first, we thought Apple would just offer a new case, but the company released a second-generation AirPods Pro 2.
