Complaint against professor over ChatGPT use: Student demands tuition refund
A student at Northeastern University has filed a formal complaint with the university and requested a refund of their tuition after discovering that their professor was using ChatGPT to teach the course.
ChatGPT, which is now widely used in many fields, has landed a university professor in a difficult situation. A senior student at Northeastern University took the matter to the university administration after finding traces of ChatGPT in their professor's lecture notes.
The student noticed that notes such as 'Expand all fields. Be more detailed and specific' in the professor's course documents were generated by ChatGPT. Pointing out this situation, the student stated that while the professor advised them not to use artificial intelligence tools, the professor was using these tools themselves.
DEMANDED A TUITION REFUND
The student filed a formal complaint with the university's business school, citing the professor's undisclosed use of artificial intelligence and other issues regarding teaching methods. Along with this complaint, the student requested a refund of the 8,000-dollar tuition fee paid for the course in question. This incident has sparked new debates regarding the boundaries and ethical dimensions of using artificial intelligence in education.
