Meta to challenge Google with AI-powered search engine
Another tech giant, Meta, is stepping up to challenge Google, the world's most widely used search engine. Meta has begun developing an AI-powered search engine.
Meta is working on developing an AI-powered search engine as an alternative to Google. Currently, the AI chatbots on Meta's Instagram and Facebook platforms rely on popular search engines like Google and Bing to fulfill users' requests for up-to-date information. However, Meta aims to end this dependency by creating an independent source of information and providing data to users through its own infrastructure.
According to information reported by The Information, the AI-powered search engine that Meta is working on has been in development for approximately 8 months.
A RIVAL TO GOOGLE MAPS AS WELL?
This initiative by Meta also involves work on a map database that could compete with Google Maps. In addition to information retrieval, Meta is preparing to challenge Google by becoming a key player in map and location services as well.
