Toyota announces its new electric vehicles and technologies

According to the company's statement, Toyota held the world premiere of the Urban SUV concept, the production version of which will be introduced in 2024. It also held the European premiere of the Sport Crossover, which will hit the roads in 2025, as well as the Toyota FT-3e and Toyota FT-Se concepts.

New PROACE, PROACE CITY, and PROACE MAX models from the Toyota Professional product family were also showcased. Additionally, the Hilux product range was further expanded with the new Hilux Hybrid 48V, which was displayed at the Kenshiki Forum.

Announcing its latest electrification targets, Toyota stated that the current sales ratio of electric-motor vehicles, including hybrids, in Europe is 71 percent, and this figure is expected to rise to 75 percent in 2024 as the number of new electric vehicles increases.

AIMS TO OFFER 15 DIFFERENT ZERO-EMISSION AND 6 ELECTRIC VEHICLES BY 2026

By 2026, Toyota will offer approximately 15 different zero-emission vehicles, ranging from passenger cars to light commercial vehicles. Six of these vehicles will be built on a specially developed electric vehicle platform. Furthermore, during this period, it is expected that 20 percent of Toyota's annual sales in Europe will be fully electric, with more than 250 thousand fully electric sales realized annually.

Toyota's "Mobility for All" strategy and its commitment to achieving full carbon neutrality in Europe by 2040 and globally by 2050 guide the company's new product development approach. At the Kenshiki Forum, Toyota revealed many important details about future products and technologies that will lead the brand to zero emissions in Europe.

In addition to the goal of offering 6 fully electric models with a platform specifically built for electric vehicles by 2026, many new technologies were showcased. The newly introduced Urban SUV and Sport Crossover concepts, the Compact SUV concept introduced last year, and the bZ4X make up 4 of the brand's 6 fully electric models. Announcements were also made regarding the development of next-generation battery technologies to be offered in vehicles after 2026.

Toyota continues to offer a multi-pathway approach on the road to carbon neutrality with different power units, in accordance with customer needs, market conditions, and local infrastructure in different countries and regions of the world. This approach covers hybrid, plug-in hybrid, fully electric, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

The next-generation technologies that Toyota is developing for the post-2026 period will change the way vehicles are developed, produced, and used. With the "Mobility for All" goal, zero-emission mobility will be made accessible.

Taking a 360-degree approach to becoming carbon neutral, Toyota will make all its production facilities carbon neutral by 2030. Within the scope of the announced electrification targets, Toyota will sell only zero-emission vehicles in the European Union, the UK, and EFTA countries by 2035. Furthermore, aiming to zero out emissions in its logistics process, Toyota has begun carrying out its logistics in Belgium and surrounding countries with hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. By 2040, all logistics operations, including purchased products and services, are planned to be carbon neutral.

Leading electrification with next-generation batteries to be offered from 2026 onwards, Toyota will introduce a performance-version battery aimed at offering twice the driving range and 20 percent lower costs compared to the current bZ4X. The brand will also begin using a low-cost battery aimed at the widespread adoption of electric vehicles.

URBAN SUV CONCEPT

At Kenshiki, Toyota introduced the new Urban SUV Concept as part of its future electric vehicle strategy for Europe. Giving clues about the production version of the new electric vehicle planned to be introduced in 2024, the Urban SUV draws attention with its bold design and innovative approach.

The Urban SUV will be the most compact and accessible model in Toyota's range of 6 fully electric products with an architecture specifically developed for electric vehicles in Europe by 2026. This vehicle will be positioned in the B-SUV segment, which is estimated to be one of the largest electric vehicle markets in Europe.

The Toyota Urban SUV Concept has a unique SUV style with its muscular body and high driving position. Usage space has been maximized with a flexible interior that can be easily adapted to prioritize passenger or cargo space when needed.

With the contribution of this new electric model, Toyota will offer only electric vehicles in Europe by 2035 and will be completely carbon neutral by 2040.

The Sport Crossover Concept, one of the vehicles Toyota exhibited at Kenshiki, will be produced and join the product range in 2025. The concept, which will become a design icon within the brand's electric vehicle product range, draws attention with its sleek aerodynamic silhouette and distinctive lines.

Standing out as an attractive alternative to SUVs for customers who will use an electric car for the first time, the Sport Crossover offers high comfort along with a spacious living area and luggage volume.

Toyota introduced the FT-3e SUV concept for the first time in Europe at the Kenshiki Forum, revealing the design and technologies it will offer in next-generation electric vehicles. The FT-3e was built on a versatile next-generation electric vehicle architecture, including performance-oriented sports cars and luxury sedans.

The FT-3e stands out as a concept that goes beyond providing carbon-neutral mobility, connecting with society and incorporating a wide variety of technologies that serve as a medium for transferring data/energy to the vehicle itself or its surroundings.

At the Kenshiki Forum, Toyota showed its vision for the electric FT-Se sports car. Developed with the expertise of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, which competes in different championships in motorsport to develop better cars, the FT-Se concept represents the future of zero-emission high-performance sports cars.
