World-famous phone brand is withdrawing from the market

OnePlus, one of the notable names of a period in the global smartphone market, is preparing to leave the US and European markets in line with the new global restructuring strategy of the company's parent brand, Oppo. According to information leaked from the sector, this withdrawal plan will be implemented in the near future.

This planned change could have significant consequences for the brand's global presence. The company is expected to take similar steps in India and other major markets starting next year. According to sources close to the sector, it is also rumored that the Realme brand will completely end its operations in China.

OnePlus had reached a loyal user base thanks to its price-performance ratio during its journey, which began with its "flagship killer" identity. However, the brand has recently lost this advantage, significantly losing its competitive power and market share, especially in Western markets.

Market data published by Omdia shows that Apple continues its leadership worldwide with a 20 percent share, and Samsung with a 22 percent share. Specifically in the US, OnePlus has begun to fall behind competitors such as Motorola and Google in the market; the brand has regressed to the position of a niche player in Western countries.

The picture is changing in a similar way in the Chinese market as well. According to IDC sources, smartphone shipments in China decreased by 4.3 percent on an annual basis, falling below 66 million. Only Huawei and Apple were able to record growth in the shrinking market.

Another factor challenging smartphone manufacturers is rising production costs. Price increases, especially in memory chips and other semiconductor components, are making things difficult for brands with low profit margins. Counterpoint Research's analyses reveal that Oppo and similar firms cannot tolerate costs as well as premium segment leaders like Apple or Samsung.

Finally, OnePlus's new flagship model, the OnePlus 15, could not be offered for sale on time in the US market due to delays in FCC certification. In addition to this, it is reported that the logistical and bureaucratic problems experienced are among the factors accelerating the company's exit from the West.

It is stated that this restructuring move by the company will spread to other major markets, primarily India, next year. Recent developments in the sector show that new competitive balances are being shaped.
