A scathing response to the TFF from Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek!
Galatasaray Club President Dursun Özbek reacted to the refereeing controversies following the Konyaspor match and the statement issued by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF).
Galatasaray Club President Dursun Özbek made statements at the GSYİAD regarding the events that took place after the Konyaspor match and the TFF's statement.
Here are Dursun Özbek's statements;
"As Galatasaray, we have always been the defenders of justice, rights, and labor. It is with regret that I say we encountered a refereeing performance last night where the sense of justice was shattered on the pitch."
"A goal similar to the one disallowed for us was awarded in another match today! The VAR referee assigned to our match had not officiated a single Super Lig game in four months. Why was he not assigned? It is clear he is a referee prepared for special matches! I cannot think of it any other way. We are facing a Central Referee Committee (MHK) that falls apart no matter how you look at it! The people responsible for this disgrace at the MHK continue to sit in their seats!"
"Like others, we do not want privileges or special treatment; we only want justice. We want the rules to be applied equally to everyone. Just as we have done for the last three years, we will not let anyone take away Galatasaray's rights!"
"Neither in my upbringing nor in Galatasaray's 500-year culture are there any underhanded games! At the core of Galatasaray is staying on the pitch and disrupting these dirty underhanded games. For the last three years, we have become champions by neutralizing these and similar games! We will be champions this year as well."
"Let no one doubt that we will take the necessary actions today, just as we have in the past. The TFF and its relevant boards will either stand with Galatasaray against these dirty games being played, or they will admit that they are actors in this game themselves. There is no other way."
"We are working to bring Galatasaray to sustainable success in sporting achievements, to strengthen its financial structure, and to get ahead of our rivals."
The dirty game currently being planned is intended to prevent this! Those who cannot defeat Galatasaray on the pitch are working to drag us down to their level, into their mediocre world! Let no one worry, let no one be anxious! We will be the champions this season as well."
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Galatasaray, which lost 2-0 away to Konyaspor in the 23rd week of the Super Lig, had issued a statement after the match.
The statement released by the club included the following remarks;
"The cancellation of our team's legitimate goal in the TÜMOSAN Konyaspor-Galatasaray match, despite the clear provisions of the offside rule, is an unacceptable scandal for Turkish football.
This decision, made by the match referee and the so-called referee known as the VAR official Davut Dakul Çelik—whose fanatical support for the team we are competing against for the championship is well-established—has damaged not only the result of a single match but also the belief in the fairness and reliability of the league. We invite the Turkish Football Federation, which holds the position of responsibility, to take immediate action, primarily to protect the brand value of Turkish football and to prevent the theft of effort on the pitch. We demand that the position in question be examined transparently and that the necessary administrative process regarding the VAR official be initiated immediately.
You can cancel our goal by disregarding all the rules. We know very well what you are trying to do because you have done this before. Start preparing now to cancel our championship at the end of the season as well. You cannot stop Galatasaray with these games!"
A ONE-SENTENCE STATEMENT FROM THE TFF
The Turkish Football Federation had responded to this post by the yellow-reds with a single sentence: "FOOTBALL IS A SPORT, NOT A DIRTY GAME."
