beIN Sports responds to Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe's reaction to Okan Buruk on live broadcast

The broadcasting of Okan Buruk's comments regarding his red card on beIN Sports Haber while the Trabzonspor-Galatasaray match was being played drew reactions from Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe. The first response to the criticisms from the broadcaster came from Güntekin Onay.

While the match was still ongoing, reporter Nezih Akşener had brought Buruk's explanation regarding the red card decision to the broadcast. Following this, both clubs issued statements targeting the broadcaster.

Güntekin Onay stated that the transmission in question was a reporting activity, saying, "Our reporter is providing information. The reporter's duty is to convey what is happening in the stadium to the public."

Onay emphasized that Akşener conveyed the dialogue between himself and Okan Buruk without adding his own commentary, stating, "He is not supporting Okan Buruk either. He is just recounting what passed between them."

MELEKE: IN ACCORDANCE WITH BROADCASTING STANDARDS

Commentator Uğur Meleke also said that this practice has been ongoing since the beginning of the season. Meleke stated that such information is conveyed on beIN Sports Haber 20-25 minutes before the end of matches, and expressed that if a similar statement were to come from other managers, it would also carry news value.

While saying, "The goal here is to conduct broadcasting in accordance with international standards," Meleke argued that raw footage shot during the match is transferred to the TFF and that the broadcaster does not make a choice such as "let's air this footage, let's not air that footage."
