Broadcasting revenue in the Süper Lig is changing: To be distributed for the last time this year

The "Champions' Share" practice, which is part of the broadcasting revenue distribution system implemented by the Turkish Football Federation, will end after this season.

This share, which corresponds to 11 percent of the broadcasting revenue, has been distributed among the 6 teams that have won the title in the history of the Süper Lig based on their number of championships. Under the new regulation, this share will be distributed equally among all clubs competing in the league starting next season.

BROADCASTING REVENUE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM

Broadcasting revenues in the Süper Lig are distributed among clubs according to specific criteria. After the federation's share and the shares for lower leagues are deducted from the total revenue, the remaining portion is distributed as follows:

1- 37 percent of the revenue is given equally to all clubs in the league as a participation fee.

2- 46 percent is distributed based on the teams' league performance, depending on win and draw results.

3- 11 percent is distributed among clubs that have won the title in past seasons, based on their number of championships.

4- 6 percent is distributed among the teams that finish the season in the top 6, according to their rankings.

When the new regulation comes into effect, the 11 percent "Champions' Share" will also be distributed equally among all clubs, just like the participation fee. Thus, 48 percent of the broadcasting revenue will be given equally to all teams.

THE SHARE TO BE DISTRIBUTED FOR THE LAST TIME THIS SEASON IS 718 MILLION LIRA

Süper Lig broadcasting rights were sold for a total of 180 million dollars for three seasons as part of the tender held in 2024. According to the terms of the tender, half of the payment is made in Turkish lira at a fixed exchange rate, and the other half is made in dollars.

According to data calculated as of March, the "Champions' Share" to be distributed this season is at the level of approximately 718 million lira (14 million euros). This amount is distributed among the clubs that have won the title in the history of the league.

In the calculation made according to the number of championships over 69 seasons, clubs earn approximately 10.4 million lira for each championship.

THE SHARE CLUBS WILL RECEIVE

The revenues that clubs will earn within the scope of the "Champions' Share," which will be distributed for the last time this season, are listed as follows:

Galatasaray: 260 million lira (5.1 million euros)

Fenerbahçe: 197.6 million lira (3.8 million euros)

Beşiktaş: 166.4 million lira (3.2 million euros)

Trabzonspor: 72.8 million lira (1.4 million euros)

Bursaspor: 10.4 million lira (202 thousand euros)

İstanbul Başakşehir: 10.4 million lira (202 thousand euros)

ADDITIONAL REVENUE FOR ANATOLIAN CLUBS

In line with the tender held in 2024, the Süper Lig broadcasting fee will continue at 180 million dollars next season as well. However, the portion paid in Turkish lira will increase due to inflation adjustment. It is stated that changes in exchange rates could also increase the total amount.

For this reason, it is stated that the "Champions' Share," calculated at approximately 718 million lira this season, could rise to a higher level next season.

In the new system, this share will be distributed equally among 18 clubs. In this case, each team in the league is expected to earn at least around 40 million lira in additional revenue.
