Election day at Beşiktaş: Hüseyin Yücel and Serdal Adalı face off

The black-and-white club will head to an extraordinary congress for the second time in approximately 13 months following a troubled period in administrative and sporting terms.

Hasan Arat, who was elected president on December 3, 2023, could not complete his term. Arat resigned on November 29 due to the football team's poor performance and problems within the board of directors.

Hüseyin Yücel, who took over as second president in place of Arat in accordance with the bylaws, convened the board of directors and made the decision for an extraordinary congress.

Yücel and former executive Serdal Adalı will compete in the congress to become the new president of Beşiktaş.

YÜCEL TO COMPETE FOR THE PRESIDENCY FOR THE FIRST TIME

Hüseyin Yücel will compete in a presidential race at the black-and-white club for the first time.

Yücel, who served as second president under Hasan Arat's administration, took the presidential seat following Arat's resignation.

Hüseyin Yücel, who served as a board member during the final term of former president Fikret Orman, was on the list of another candidate, Serdal Adalı, in the congress held on October 20, 2019, when Ahmet Nur Çebi was elected president for the first time.

ADALI TO ENTER THE ELECTION FOR THE 4TH TIME

Serdal Adalı will compete for the 4th time to become the president of Beşiktaş.

Adalı had previously held the positions of vice president and second president during the terms of Yıldırım Demirören and Fikret Orman. Serdal Adalı did not win the presidential races he entered against Fikret Orman in 2013, Ahmet Nur Çebi in 2019, and Hasan Arat in 2023.

The last 4 presidents who served at Beşiktaş were elected to office as a result of an extraordinary general assembly.

In the black-and-white club, Yıldırım Demirören (2004-2012), Fikret Orman (2012-2019), Ahmet Nur Çebi (2019-2023), and Hasan Arat (2023-2024) took the presidential seat following an extraordinary congress.

If elected, either Yücel or Adalı will be the 5th consecutive president to take office through an extraordinary general assembly.

THE RECORD BELONGS TO SÜLEYMAN SEBA

Süleyman Seba went down in history as the person who served as president for the longest time in Beşiktaş's 121-year history.

Seba served as the president of the black-and-white club uninterruptedly for 16 years between 1984 and 2000. During the era of "Honorary President" Süleyman Seba, Beşiktaş achieved historic success by winning 22 trophies in football.
