Galatasaray files criminal complaint over social media posts

Galatasaray Sports Club has announced that it has initiated legal proceedings regarding certain statements and posts on social media that it states target the club, its executives, athletes, and fans.

In the statement made by the club, it was assessed that the posts in question contain hate speech and are of a nature that could disrupt public order.

Galatasaray reported that a criminal complaint was filed with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office within the last 10 days under the relevant articles of the Turkish Penal Code.

Galatasaray noted that, in order to inform the public accurately, the criminal complaints filed within the last 10 days are limited only to the individuals and accounts mentioned in the statement, and that there are no other criminal complaints filed by the club outside of these.

The yellow-red club emphasized that it will continue the necessary processes within the framework of the principles of the rule of law against unlawful acts targeting its corporate reputation, its members, and its fans.
