İsmail Kartal breaks his silence at Fenerbahçe before the election! 'There is one point that saddens me...'

The Fenerbahçe management, which terminated Jose Mourinho's contract, has brought Italian coach Domenico Tedesco to lead the team. Before Tedesco, the Yellow-Navy club had also held a meeting with İsmail Kartal.

Following the official appointment of Tedesco, İsmail Kartal, who had announced he would hold a press conference regarding the reports about him, announced yesterday evening that he had canceled the meeting.

Attending the TUSYAD Congress today, Kartal broke his silence on the process. Speaking to former Haber Global Sports Director Sercan Hamzaoğlu, İsmail Kartal stated the following:

“I am not going to talk about the incoming coaches. Two years ago, when I broke all the records, a new coach came and I respected that. I have not made any statements since that day.

I am a son of Fenerbahçe, but there is only one point that saddens me; we came together with Fenerbahçe executives in a family setting. There was no presentation or anything like that there. We just chatted about general and current topics. I was hurt that words I did not say were leaked to the press as if I had said them. It is not pleasant for things I did not say to be reported to the press.

I know that our President Ali Koç is also sensitive about these matters. I assume he will look into these issues later. There will be a new election. I wish success to whichever president and executives win, and to our new coach.

I wish Fenerbahçe and our coach success on the path to the championship until the end, and I will continue to give my support. I have never spoken against Fenerbahçe. I do not speak about the president and the executives either; I am not a person of that character.

I do not want to occupy Fenerbahçe's agenda. I was going to emphasize this at the press conference, but I no longer feel the need to do so. I send my greetings to all our fans; let them support our team and our coach. I am a Fenerbahçe supporter, may Fenerbahçe's path be clear.

I have no resentment toward anyone. My presidents, old or new, I cannot have resentment toward anyone. We set the bar high with 99 points and 99 goals. There is always someone better, I hope the new coaches do even better. Fenerbahçe deserves this.”
