İstanbulspor player admitted to intensive care over suspected heart attack
İstanbulspor's 19-year-old player Elvin Mendy was taken to intensive care after falling ill on the way back from the Manisa FK match.
A worrying development occurred following the match for İstanbulspor, who faced Manisa Futbol Kulübü away in the 8th week of the 1st League. Elvin Mendy, who plays for the yellow-and-black team, fell ill on the way back to Istanbul.
The 19-year-old Gambian defensive midfielder, who stayed on the pitch for 90 minutes during the match, became ill while the team bus was near the Kırkağaç district of Manisa. Mendy was first taken to Kırkağaç State Hospital on suspicion of a heart attack.
The young footballer was later transferred to Manisa City Hospital by ambulance. It was learned that Mendy is currently receiving treatment in intensive care there.
İstanbulspor had secured their first win of the season by defeating Manisa FK 1-0 with a goal scored by Mustafa Sol in stoppage time. The incident following the match caused great sadness among his teammates and the technical staff.
