Describing what happened that night in Merih Demiral's match-day video, Aktürkoğlu stated the following:
"Let's talk about what happened last night. I was sleeping. Around 12:30 AM - 1:00 AM, first fireworks, then something like a bomb.
It came right into our room, but we will do what is necessary on the pitch, brother.
They don't know what can happen if you provoke Turkish people like us."
