No winner in the Galatasaray-Beşiktaş derby: Red card shown in the first half

Galatasaray and Beşiktaş faced off in the big derby played in the 8th week of the Super Lig.

Beşiktaş found the goal in the 12th minute of the match played at Rams Park. Uğurcan Çakır saved the shot taken by Orkun Kökçü, who met the ball in the penalty area following a pass from Cerny. Tammy Abraham, who followed the ball well after it rebounded from Uğurcan, scored to make it 1-0.

DAVINSON SANCHEZ SHOWN A RED CARD

The Yellow-Reds were left with 10 men in the 34th minute. Rafa Silva, who slipped behind the defense following a pass from Cerny, suddenly found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Because Rafa Silva fell to the ground following a challenge by Davinson Sanchez, referee Yasin Kol showed a direct red card to Sanchez on the grounds that he prevented a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

The first half of the match ended with Beşiktaş leading 1-0.

Starting the second half with pressure, 'Cimbom' leveled the match in the 55th minute. After applying pressure on Ndidi, Lucas Torreira won the ball for his teammate İlkay Gündoğan. İlkay scored the goal that brought the score to 1-1 with his shot from inside the penalty area.

Beşiktaş came very close to scoring in the 74th minute. Rafa Silva, who met the ball in the penalty area following a pass from Cengiz Ünder, shot over the bar from a favorable position.

Although both Galatasaray and Beşiktaş pushed for a goal in the remainder of the match, the deadlock was not broken and the derby ended in a 1-1 draw.

GALATASARAY'S STREAK ENDS AGAINST BEŞİKTAŞ

With this result, Galatasaray increased its points to 22 and maintained its lead in the league. The winning streak of the 'Lion', which broke the record for the best start by winning 7 out of 7 in the league, also ended with this draw.

Beşiktaş, which increased its points to 13, placed 5th.

In the 9th week, which will be played after the international break, Galatasaray will face Başakşehir away from home.

Beşiktaş will host Gençlerbirliği. The 'Black Eagles'' 2-match winning streak also came to an end.
