Police launch proceedings against 43 people following Fenerbahçe-Galatasaray derby!

Legal proceedings have been initiated against 43 people identified as having caused disturbances and failed to comply with regulations during the derby match played between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray in the Ziraat Turkish Cup quarterfinals.

Teams from the Istanbul Police Department took action after identifying violations under the "Law on the Prevention of Violence and Disorder in Sports" during the match held at Ülker Stadium.

In the match attended by a total of 52 thousand 152 spectators, 4 people were identified for lighting flares during the game, while other fans were processed for charges including "violation of restricted areas," "causing disturbances in facilities," "causing material damage to facilities," "engaging in abusive and insulting chanting," "unauthorized entry into sports areas and providing spectators," and "bringing prohibited substances into the venue."

Police officials stated that security measures taken in and around the stadium were meticulously implemented and that efforts to prevent violence in sports venues will continue with determination.
