Sergen Yalçın's comments on the Galatasaray derby

Starting his remarks by stating that it was not an easy match, Yalçın said, "The opponent fought hard. We started very well and took a 2-goal lead early. Then, a sense of comfort settled over the team. The opponent started to play. We conceded an early goal in the second half, which naturally caused a drop in motivation. We tried to change the game with substitutions.

Ultimately, there are 3 points taken at the end of the game. For us, the 3 points are more valuable than the performance.

The players are going through a difficult process, and so are we. We cannot bring together the newly arrived squad and the players who have been playing together. Despite everything, it was not a bad night. It was important to win," he said.

"WE ARE TRYING TO BRING THE TEAM TO THE MAXIMUM LEVEL"

When asked about the reasons for the decline in performance during the second half of the match, Sergen Yalçın replied, "I cannot give an answer as to which squad we will field next week. Sometimes these things happen in games. We are not a group of players who have played together much. It is also difficult to say that we are physically ready. These factors put us at a disadvantage during the game. We are working seriously to recover the situation; we worked hard during the international break. We are trying to bring the team to the maximum level, but it is not easy. We also just arrived. It is a challenging process for us as well. It is a difficult start for a manager. The squad has been built, everything is finished. I think we will recover in the coming weeks. We will see how much we recover. We will play a tough derby next week. We will wait and see."

The successful manager added that they have 3 foreign and 1 Turkish player in the defensive tandem, and they are experimenting to find the right duo.

"THE ATMOSPHERE OF A DERBY IS DIFFERENT"

Touching upon the Galatasaray derby they will play away next week, Yalçın stated that they will be heading into a match with no clear favorite. Sergen Yalçın said, "I wish Galatasaray success in their match tomorrow. It is a difficult match. I have been playing in derbies since I was 18-19 years old. The atmosphere of a derby is different. You need to prepare well. We can say that the team we will play against is the best team in the league. We will prepare accordingly. The outcome of derbies is unpredictable," he said.

The Black and White manager stated that Tammy Abraham, who could not continue the game due to injury, suffered a dislocated shoulder, and a decision on whether he will play in the derby will be made after an MRI scan tomorrow.
