Trabzonspor misses goal opportunities, qualification remains for Trabzon

Our representative Trabzonspor was the guest of Swiss team St. Gallen in the first leg of the UEFA Conference League play-off round. The match at St. Gallen Stadium ended in a 0-0 draw. 

After breaking St. Gallen's pressure in the opening minutes and establishing balance in the game, Trabzonspor could not capitalize on the goal opportunities it created, leaving Switzerland with a draw and pushing the qualification decision to Trabzon. 

The return leg of the match will be played in Trabzon on Thursday, August 29. 

KEY MOMENTS OF THE MATCH

In the 7th minute, Orsic won the ball following a mistake by Toma in midfield. In the ensuing fast break, Visca moved onto Orsic's pass and found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. In Visca's shot from the edge of the penalty area, goalkeeper Ati-Zigi parried the ball. Orsic, following up on the play, shot the ball over the bar.

In the 8th minute, Bardhi entered the penalty area following a long pass from Savic. In Bardhi's shot while one-on-one with the goalkeeper, the ball hit the post after being touched by goalkeeper Ati-Zigi.

In the 45+1st minute, from a free kick taken by Bardhi from the right wing, Savic at the back post headed the ball down toward the six-yard box. Ozan Tufan's header was saved by goalkeeper Ati-Zigi. 

In the 52nd minute, Visca took a corner kick from the left wing. Mendy, rising well at the back post, headed the ball from the six-yard box, but it went wide. 

In the 66th minute, Visca crossed the ball into the penalty area from the right wing. Trezeguet's header from a favorable position went over the bar.

In the 86th minute, from a corner taken by Ruiz from the left wing, Geubbels sent the ball into the net with a header in the six-yard box. Referee Miguel Nogueira, following a VAR review, disallowed the goal, ruling that Geubbels had committed a foul on Dragus.
