Yasin Kol's first statement in the referees file: Striking betting explanation

Süper Lig referee Yasin Kol and Süper Lig assistant referee Göktuğ Hazar Erel have been detained in Istanbul as part of an investigation known as the "referees file."

It was stated that Kol was detained following the Trabzonspor-Drogheda United friendly match played in Trabzon. It was reported that the suspects' procedures at the police station are ongoing.

It was learned that action was taken against the two referees following the examination of digital materials and a detailed analysis of MASAK records in the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Bureau of Illegal Betting and Sports Crimes.

I did not place any bets. I only sent money as a loan to a few people I like who asked me for money; other than that, I have no account activity.

— Yasin Kol's first statement

It was reported that Kol and Erel were detained on charges of "opposition to Law No. 7258," "complicity in forgery of documents," and "misconduct in office." Opposition to Law No. 7258 is among the charges related to illegal betting.
