5 dead, 6 injured: The reason behind the neighbor dispute in Sakarya is shocking!

Details have emerged regarding the incident in the Serdivan district of Sakarya, where a dispute between two neighboring families escalated into a bloody clash. The Sakarya Governor's Office announced that the incident grew out of a fight between children. As part of security measures, 3 members of the same family who lost their lives were laid to rest early.

In the incident that occurred at night on 3167th Street in Beşköprü Neighborhood, 3 people died at the scene and 2 others passed away in the hospital. While 5 people injured in the clash are receiving treatment in the hospital, they have been placed under police surveillance. Following the incident, 4 suspects who fled the scene were apprehended and taken into custody.

In its statement, the Sakarya Governor's Office said, "On Sunday, April 6, 2025, at approximately 01:10, an armed clash occurred between two neighboring families residing in the Beşköprü Neighborhood of our Serdivan district, following the escalation of a dispute between children. As a result of this tragic incident, a total of 5 of our citizens from both sides lost their lives after being shot with firearms, and 6 of our citizens were injured in various parts of their bodies. Following the incident, 3 suspects attempting to flee the area in a commercial taxi were apprehended and taken into custody by our security units in a short time, and 5 unlicensed pistols were seized during searches conducted at the scene and on the suspects. A multi-faceted investigation and inquiry have been initiated under the coordination of the Sakarya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to clarify all aspects of the incident. All necessary preventive measures are being taken by our security forces to ensure that such incidents do not recur, and the judicial process regarding the relevant individuals is being carried out meticulously."

The bodies of Yaşar Özyurt and his sons Onur Özyurt (24) and Özgür Özyurt (21), who lost their lives in the bloody clash, were handed over to their families under gendarmerie escort following autopsy procedures. The funerals, which were planned to be held after the afternoon prayer, were laid to rest in the Kuyumculu Neighborhood of Karasu after the noon prayer due to security reasons.
