Man having a nervous breakdown wreaks havoc in Hatay! He assaulted his parents and took 1 person hostage!

A 26-year-old individual named A.G., living in the Yayladağı district of Hatay, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder following an examination 5 years ago. While traveling from the Yayladağı direction toward the city center, A.G. had a dispute with his family, suffered a breakdown, and drove the car he was operating toward a cliff. As he was driving the car toward the cliff, his father, H.G., pulled the handbrake and stopped the vehicle. After stopping the car, the man became enraged, assaulted his father, H.G., and his mother, B.G., and threw them out of the car.

HE TOOK 1 PERSON HOSTAGE

The man who assaulted his parents got into the vehicle and fled, crashing into 3 cars. Continuing to crash into vehicles, the man failed to comply with a 'stop' order from police at a checkpoint in the Harbiye neighborhood and crashed into 2 more cars before stopping while trying to flee. Panicked when police fired warning shots into the air as he got out of the car to try and escape, the man got into the vehicle of a citizen named S.G. who was on the road and took the driver hostage.

As a result of the work by Hatay Police Department teams, the individual was apprehended and taken into custody on charges of deprivation of liberty, property damage, and intentional injury. No criminal weapon was found during the search of the detained individual. Health teams dispatched to the scene provided initial intervention to the assaulted mother and father before they were taken to the hospital.

It was learned that the health status of the mother, B.G., and the father, H.G., who were taken to the hospital, is good. Speaking to the İhlas News Agency after the incident, Hatice Gümüş, the sister of the individual with the psychological condition, described what happened.

"MY BROTHER HAD A BREAKDOWN AND DROVE THE CAR TOWARD THE CLIFF"

Stating that her brother had a breakdown and attacked their parents while he was being taken to Yayladağı, Hatice Gümüş said, "We were in the village as a family. We set out to drop my brother off in Yayladağı. On the way back, my brother had a breakdown and was driving the car toward the cliff when my father pulled the handbrake and stopped the car. While the car was stopped, my brother attacked my father. Upon this, my father retaliated. As my mother was getting out, my brother got out and assaulted both my mother and father, then got into the car.

While he was driving away, he hit several cars. He didn't stop at the police checkpoint on the way to the Harbiye road and fled. When he fled from there, he hit the cars there. He caused material and moral damage to the people there. My brother is 26 years old and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. While his treatment process was going well, he was not taking his medication. My mother underwent hip fracture surgery. My mother's condition is good; she will attempt to walk.

We thought there was a problem with my father's skull, and an MRI was taken. My father's health condition is also improving. My brother has had psychological problems for 5 years. We were going back and forth to the hospital during the treatment process. My brother would get better and then get worse. We tried to be by his side in every way, but he did not respond in any way. We gave him every kind of support to help him get better, but he always gave us negative responses," she said.
