Ministry of Tourism announces: Tourist influx to Turkey

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has announced tourism data for the January-May period.

Accordingly, 15 million 784 thousand 213 foreign visitors and 2 million 24 thousand 865 Turkish citizens residing abroad visited Turkey during the January-May period.

INCREASE COMPARED TO LAST YEAR

Thus, the total number of visitors reached 17 million 809 thousand 78. The number of foreign visitors in this period increased by 12.47 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

On the other hand, the number of foreign visitors arriving in Turkey in May increased by 14 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching 5 million 130 thousand 119.

In the ranking of countries sending the most visitors to Turkey in May, the Russian Federation ranked first with an increase of 15.32 percent and 739 thousand 17 visitors. Germany sent 729 thousand 505 visitors with an increase of 18.12 percent, and the United Kingdom sent 550 thousand 592 visitors with an increase of 21.62 percent. These countries were followed by Bulgaria and Poland, respectively.

In the ranking of countries sending the most visitors to Turkey in the first 5 months of this year, Germany ranked first with an increase of 16.20 percent and 1 million 122 thousand 930 visitors. The Russian Federation was in second place with 1 million 78 thousand 294 visitors, while Iran was third with an increase of 51.78 percent and 946 thousand 437 visitors. These countries were followed by Bulgaria and the United Kingdom.

Our country has achieved a significant success in tourism by hosting 17 million 809 thousand 78 visitors in the first five months of 2024.

There was a 12.47 percent increase in the number of foreign visitors compared to the same period last year.
