Moving truck's trailer detaches onto road, 3 killed in chain-reaction crash

Three people lost their lives in a chain-reaction traffic accident that occurred at night on the Tekirdağ-Muratlı highway.

At around 01:30 at night, the trailer of a truck traveling in the İnciröbekleri area of the Yeşilsırt neighborhood in the Muratlı district detached from the vehicle for an undetermined reason and was thrown onto the road. After the trailer completely blocked the highway, three vehicles traveling in the same direction crashed into each other.

3 PEOPLE IN LIGHT COMMERCIAL VEHICLE COULD NOT BE SAVED

The light commercial vehicle with license plate 59 AOJ 243, driven by Ferit Baldız, sustained the heaviest damage in the chain-reaction crash. The driver, Ferit Baldız (50), and passengers Gizem Baldız (17) and Buse Naz Çiçek (16) were trapped inside the vehicle after it went out of control and crashed into the barriers.

Upon receiving the report, fire, medical, and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the area. Medical teams intervened with the injured, who were extracted from the vehicle after a long effort by the fire brigade. However, Ferit Baldız, Gizem Baldız, and Buse Naz Çiçek lost their lives despite all interventions at the scene.

TRANSPORTATION HALTED, INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED

Due to the accident, transportation from the direction of Süleymanpaşa toward Muratlı was completely halted for a while. While security measures were taken in the area, Muratlı Chief Public Prosecutor Oğuzhan Tekin and the Provincial Gendarmerie Crime Scene Investigation teams conducted an examination at the site.

The bodies of the 3 people who lost their lives were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy procedures. A comprehensive investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
