France is preparing to add a new measure to its decisive actions against smoking. Within the scope of the new regulation prepared with the goal of protecting public health and environmental cleanliness, smoking will be banned on all beaches across the country.
The law will expand the "smoke-free beach" practices that have been implemented in some cities over the years to a nationwide scale. Cagnes-sur-Mer, one of the pioneering cities in this regard, implemented a smoking ban on certain stretches of coastline in 2018.
As of 2023, all beaches within the city limits had been declared non-smoking areas. With the new law, it is aimed for local initiatives like that of Cagnes-sur-Mer to become national policy.
